VIP Questions to Jamie:

What do you do when not working?

In addition to Jamielizabeth I have a full time job that I have been with for 18 years! Those two jobs keep me extremely busy, but outside of work I am involved with Via De Cristo - a spiritual retreat that fills my cup, I sit on church council, I am on the board of our kids school PTC and of course am taxi to kids birthday parties, sleep overs, gymnastics classes, 4-H activities and choir. Futuristically I want to get more involved in community leadership opportunities and volunteer activities for local and regional non-profits. I do support many financially though Jamielizabeth fundraisers - but I want to be able to give more of my time as well towards non-profits - especially smaller non-profits that make big impacts and have less money and support available to them. We love to travel - but usually only get in 1 trip a year.

Favorite Animal and Why?

I’m totally into Maddie’s guinea pig lately (Patches) - he is so stinking cute and not scared of anything - he is all about exploring the cats, dogs and exploring the house.

Favorite Foods

I love authentic Mexican and Italian food, i’ve tried just about every single spaghetti sauce trying to find the perfect one! My favorite odd food is brussel sprouts. If a restaurant has them I am almost SURE to order them!

Jamie’s Favorite Place!

The Mountains - anywhere with mountains brings me to a place of peace and awe of God’s beautiful creation!

Washington State

Wyoming

Big Bend

Jamie’s Favorite Pairs!

Even though I LOVE bright colors - I tend do walk out the door with neutrals. Part of the problem is I dont get up early enough to find the perfect match - so neutral it is!

How it Started:

Modern Scribble Line

I grew up in a small town and I remember at a very young age going with my mom to the local “sellers market” a shop where locals could sell their handmade items - to a little room in the back and watching her rummage through the "check box" to see if anything she had made had sold - sometimes there was one, and sometimes there was not, but she never stopped trying.

I remember for years, setting up at craft fairs in 100 degree weather and 30 degree weather handing out hundreds of business cards to everyone who walked by - sometimes we sold something, sometimes we didn't - but they always kept trying.

My dad has the patience of a saint as we have tried dozens of new "crafts" trying to find that one thing that people would love - from engraved glass/boards/and everything that could be engraved (my mom used to do ALLL of the engraving BY HAND with a tiny dentist like tool), to chess sets, tables (all done by dad with a scroll saw) to baby bibs, bird feeders, felt Christmas trees, bracelets and more! You name it, we likely tried it - and never gave up.

Finally one December about 3 years ago mom and I were playing with a new idea (go figure) - Christmas presents for teachers - lets make some fun Christmas earrings! Combine the love of wood with something very functional and pretty - and who doesn't love earrings?! We gave over 100 away that year as presents to teachers, co-workers and more - and I made a fun post or two about them on Facebook. And alas Jamielizabeth was born.

The name might be mine - but the background, the encouragement and story of how it all started is all theirs. They continue to be the silent backbone of this business today - with the perfect timing of my dad retiring and my moms endless creativity. They continue to help create "the next best thing" - just now in earring terms.
